If there was one benefit of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was that distance learning saw a massive increase in its capabilities. Universities around the UK were forced into taking measures to ensure their students were still able to complete their courses, and in doing so, many of these universities saw the benefits of online learning, as highlighted in our previous blog.
Distance learning is by no means a new idea though, and many providers have provided a huge range of courses available to those around the world. However, should you be looking to advance into the realms of studying within the UK, ensuring you study with the correct providers is paramount due to the way in which the UK University system works.
WHAT IS DISTANCE LEARNING?
Distance learning – also referred to as ‘online learning’ – is an alternative route to studying a degree course offered by a university. Instead of attending lectures and seminars on campus, you study at home or at work. All teaching, materials, and support are delivered online.
You submit assessments online too. However, you may have to travel to sit exams, in person.
Distance learning is far more flexible. Online Courses are broken down into bitesize modules, each worth a certain number of credits and study hours. You’re awarded credits as you complete each module until you’ve achieved the total credits for the course.
WHO ARE LABM?
London Academy of Business and Management is a proud registered & verified member with the UK Register of Learning Providers (UKRLP: 10085150) and is a UK registered company with The Registrar of Companies for England and Wales (company no:11896699). LABM operates to the highest academic standards and has multiple structures in place that ensure the standard of education provided to its students is of the highest quality. Our awarding body, Awards For Training and Higher Education (ATHE) is a global awarding organisation regulated by Ofqual and other UK and international regulators, and our qualifications organisation are regulated by Ofqual, who is the independent qualifications regulator for England.
WHY LABM IS THE PERFECT CHOICE FOR YOU
As mentioned previously, should you wish to advance onto an on-campus taught course within the United Kingdom, you are going to want to make sure you are studying with the right provider. Thankfully, if that is your chosen path, you are in the right place.
Learners who achieve a LABM qualification are automatically mapped against a standard UK Higher Education qualification framework. This is a universally recognised framework of credits. Universities can therefore award credits against the LABM study to give exemptions from large parts of their formal programmes. LABM and ATHE have pre-agreed arrangements with certain universities to provide credits against programmes either on campus or off campus. This is termed ‘university top-up’.
In essence, this means that studying with LABM means you will have a clean-cut way in which to advance onto an on-campus taught Bachelors degree within the United Kingdom. For example, our range of courses on Business Management are tailor made for advancement onto a Bachelors Degree within the United Kingdom. Upon completion of this course, students receive an ATHE Level 3 Business Management qualification which is fully regulated by Ofqual. Students will then have the opportunity to apply for admission onto a full Undergraduate Degree programme from a range of UK universities. Alternatively, students can opt to study our Level 4/5 Extended Diploma in Management and then go on to complete an Undergraduate Top Up at a range of UK universities.
